2 Doggy IQ Test Parts Tried Out! 2 out of 25 activities (Pt. 1)

Today I have decided to give Roxy 2 "Doggy IQ Tests" and give you guys the results and how to do them with your dog.

Note: Keep track of the "points" your dog scores throughout these mini dog tests. Once all 25 mini tests are done, we will add up our scores to find out really how smart Fido is.

Mini Test #1: "Under-cover"

In this mini test, you will see, yes, how fast your dog can get out of a towel (It looks like the dog in the picture above needs a towel too!) .

What you'll need for this test:

  • Large Towel (If you don't want your towels to be covered in dog hair, I reccomend using the dog's towel. Also, make sure the towel is just right. Too big, and your pooch will get stuck. Too small, and they'll be free in a snap.)
  • Timer
  • Your Dog
  • (optional) Pen and Paper (If your timer has a lap setting use that instead to record results)
Here are the directions for this funny test:

  1. Make sure your dog is awake. What I mean by this is that your dog should not be sleepy, nor extremely hyper.
  2. Let the dog sniff the towel
  3. Swiftly and quickly throw the towel over the dog's head and shoulders. Start the timer and repeat 2 more times.
Results:
1st Trial: 5.64 seconds
2nd Trial: 3. 01 seconds
3rd Trial: 13. 11 seconds
Average: 7.253 seconds

Points
If the dog frees itself in:

  • 5 seconds or less - 5 points
  • 6 to 14 seconds - 4 points
  • 15 to 29 seconds - 3 points
  • 30 to 59 seconds - 2 points
  • Over 60 seconds - 1 point
Roxy got 4 points.
She had so much fun doing this mini test and I hope your pet did too!

I'll post the other doggy test later.
~Lili (With the help of Roxy)
